The Playlist That Can’t be Heard | Campaign
Montreal, December 7th, 2022
Martyn Stewart spent his life recording over 60,000 hours of nature, and needs the world to hear it.
We created The playlist that can’t be heard, a 14 track playlist built from soundscapes from our planet recorded over the last 50 years by Martyn Stewart, the “David Attenborough of Sound” (National Geographic). We broadcasted this through the streets and venues of Montreal at the COP15 climate conference.
The playlist begins with a lively marsh full of birds chirping, takes you through clearcutting, highway in a dessert, the dolphin massacre, glaciers melting, and concludes with the same marsh from the start, but those birds are now extinct. COP after COP, nature is kept silenced. This time we wanted the people to listen.
Venues @ COP15 we infiltrated:
Espace pour la vie (biodome, insectarium, botanical garden, biosphere)
Réseau Environnement offices (largest group of environmental specialists in Quebec)
Sid Lee global offices (LA, SEA, NY, LDN, PAR, TO, MTL)
Place Ville Marie (Town Square Montreal)
Earth Day van with speakers, driving around Montreal
